Sophie (she/her/hers) is thrilled to join WCEL as a summer student. Born and raised on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territory in Vancouver, Sophie is a JD candidate at the University of British Columbia, specializing in Indigenous Legal Studies. Prior to law school, she completed an honours degree in economics at Stanford University and subsequently worked as a climate campaigner for a B.C. non-profit. Sophie is an alumna of the youth climate movement, having served as a two-time Canadian youth delegate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Sophie serves on the board of the ME & Fibromyalgia Society of BC where she is proud to advocate for better care for people with complex chronic illnesses. In her spare time, you can find her reading feminist fantasy and sci fi or enjoying a good cup of tea.
