Sophie (she/her) was born and raised on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territory in Vancouver, B.C. She holds a BA in economics from Stanford University, where she founded the fossil fuel divestment campaign that convinced Stanford to divest from coal in 2014. She obtained her JD from the University of British Columbia, where she served as a clinician at the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic.
Sophie is an alumna of the youth climate movement, having served as a two-time Canadian youth delegate to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change negotiations. Prior to law school, she worked as a pipeline and tankers campaigner at Dogwood for several years.
Sophie serves on the board of the ME & Fibromyalgia Society of BC where she is proud to advocate for better care for people with complex chronic illnesses. In her spare time, you can find her reading feminist fantasy and sci fi or enjoying a good cup of tea.
